Rites of May: a trip up Lolo Peak.

Cooper loves Oliver. Oliver was a feisty bunny; luckily we only had him for two days.

He got a new/used bike -- a Specialized Hotrock. His former Diamondback RM12 did not fit and weighed close to what my bike weighed. So we entered the realm of kids' bikes -- where decent ones cost as much as an adult bike. The Hotrock used was $155, and I think it will keep its resale value. I just wish it had quick release wheels.

"The boundary beyond which events cannot affect an outside observer. In layman's terms, it is defined as "the point of no return", i.e., the point at which the gravitational pull becomes so great as to make escape impossible."

The parts of Montana not at snowline or above are now bathed in this surreal Velvia green -- old-school Fuji film users will know what I mean by that.

Durbar Square, 2015

20150511_120803

Sobering to think about the devastation of Kathmandu Durbar Square, which by most estimates has stood in some form since the mid-1500s. I'm glad we were able to spend more than a month in Kathmandu some years ago, and have often thought about returning. It's little consolation to say, At least we saw it -- though we can, unlike places like Samarra, Bamiyan, or Aleppo.
